Hi, my name is “Miyeon”, though I also answer to Mia (funny enough, a Starbucks employee mispronounced my name and well, it sort of stuck- at least the first letter was the same ;-)). I was born and raised in South Korea (Kimchi, K-pop, Samsung). After meeting my Canadian husband, who introduced me to Kawartha Dairy ice cream, poutine, and carrot cake during our summer visits, I slowly realized that Canada could easily be my new home and probably should be (the maple walnut is to die for;-).  The only problem would be switching from my marketing & sales career to something different. Luckily, my husband (with no ulterior motive whatsoever) prompted me to take a demo baking class at Le Cordon Bleu, Seoul. I liked it. I really liked it. Next thing I knew, I was working at Parkhill on Hunter followed by Black Honey followed by Two Dishes Cookshop followed by, well, MIJA. MIJA is the next step. MIJA was my childhood nickname, and no, it doesn’t mean “a long life” or “luck” on anything fancy. It’s just my nick name. At the MIJA bakeshop I’m going to let my creative side loose. Watch out for beautiful seasonal pies, delicious cakes, rustic bread, baked goods and French pastries and more :)

Let the good times begin!

Welcome.
